NDIS Mid Cost AT Update

Community Therapy - AT Update

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) updated the mid cost assistive technology (AT) price bracket and application process in March 2022.

The upper limit of mid cost AT has been increased from $1,500 to $15,000 and the NDIA advised that quotes and extensive AT reports are no longer required.

Evidence from an allied health professional is still required to:

  • support an application for mid cost AT funding at a scheduled or unscheduled plan review and;
  • support the prescription and purchase of mid cost AT that has been funded.

Allied health organisations and professionals should review their clinical governance in regards to AT assessment, trial and prescription documentation requirements.

The NDIA has also advised that mid cost AT will be funded in $5,000 bands and the 25th to 75th percentile price range for AT will also be noted. Importantly, unspent funded mid cost AT funds will be available to participants to use for further AT within their plan, however, allied health evidence is required to support any purchases.
